![]() Bloodrain // Brightsky Name: Brightsky & Bloodrain Gender: Male & Female Approximate Age: 9 cycles Location: Sundast Race: Draian Type: Wingless Class: Wild Siblings: Each other Dominant Element: Draian Personality: Brightsky is the calmer of the twins, thinking things through first before acting on them. He pays attention to detail and is well organized, keeping everything in its place. He does enjoy having fun, but not without considering the risks involved depending on the activity. He's kind and gentle and always willing to lend a helping paw. He's very watchful of his sister and wants to keep her safe from harm, but he knows he can only do so much for her. Bloodrain is the more upbeat of the twins. She's always ready to dive head first into any situation and take on any challenge, but she's easily affected if someone is hurt and can easily shut out the world. Though the passing of her father greatly distressed her, she tries not to dwell on it too much, thinking that she can learn from it. She's much more mischievous than her brother, and much quicker to act. History: The Sundering The ground was shaking beneath their paws as the sky turned a dark red, casting an eerie glow over the entire Drey. Son-and-Daughter-of-Knotweaver were hiding underneath their father, shaking from fear. They had no idea what was going on or what was going to happen to them. Were they going to die? Were they going to lose their fragile lives? They had only been on the Drey for a short moon, unknowing of how to take care of themselves or how to defend themselves without their father. "Let's go!" Knotweaver nudged the two tiny pups forward and so they started to run. The trees were collapsing around them, snapping under their own weight and kicking up dirt as they fell. All sorts of creatures were in a panic around them, running into each other and getting crushed by the falling debris. It was a horrifying sight to the young pups, but their father yelled, "Don't look around you, just keep moving forward!" Knotweaver ran ahead of them so the twins could follow at his heels. The world was a blur around them. A large cracking sound filled the air as a lightning bolt struck a tree, creating a fire to spark. Daughter-of-Knotweaver screeched loudly, taking a dive to the leaf covered ground as she closed her eyes and pushed her ears back against her head. It was only a dream, right? Son-of-Knotweaver stopped, looking back at his sister, before he shouted out to his father and ran back to her side. "Up, up!" It was all he could say - he was terrified himself and shaking badly. Knotweaver ran back to them, pushing his daughter back up. "Don't stop! We're almost out of the forest!" Another loud crack filled the air, followed by an even brighter flash that made even Knotweaver flinch. The three looked up to see the nearest tree was set on fire by the lightning bolt and several branches were starting to snap from the flames. The ground shook beneath them once more. Knotweaver grabbed his daughter in his mouth and nudged his son, running out of the way of the tree. The fires were starting to spread as another tree collapsed near them and more creatures ran out screaming for their lives. As Knotweaver came to a halt as a tree had fallen in front of him, he turned to run the other way, but a fiery tree had fallen and the fire was spreading. It was too much chaos, too much going on. He wished his mate had been there. As the fire started to spread around them and his son started to whimper and press against his leg, Knotweaver had to make a decision. With a heavy heart he pushed his son toward the tree that had yet to be set on fire. He tossed daughter over the giant tree, then looked down at his son, who looked horrified, but Knotweaver knew this would be the only chance that his pups would have. He picked his son up and tossed him over the tree as well, calling out to them, "Stay together! Never break apart!" The fire spread, engulfing where Knotweaver stood. The pups were alone now. The two had landed with a thud and a whimper, looking up at the tree. They couldn't hear their father over the roar of the fire. They looked terrified as they barked up to him, leaning against the tree that was slowly starting to burn. The daughter curled up on the ground and whimpered, shaking, as she didn't know what to do. Her brother nudged her, tugging at her ear, and gestured to the safety of the non-burning part of the forest. The two ran as fast as their little legs could carry them on the unsteady ground, and as the sister looked back she saw that the fire had engulfed the whole area, including where her father had been. Tears welled in her eyes before she looked ahead and ran, her heart pumping fast, while her brother ran ahead of her, leading the way. Eight Years Later "C'mon, Brightsky, are you done yet?" Bloodrain had been so bored lately; all she wanted to do was go hunt some small creatures for sport, but her brother was busy scouting the area, as always. Brightsky ignored his sister, looking around the area before nodding to her and crawling slowly through the brush. It wasn't like him to always be so cautious, but he recognized the area as the darkest part of the forest of Sereven, which usually held some darker secrets to go along with it. Bloodrain sighed as she followed her brother, not bothering to crawl as she pushed through the brush. He always seemed so over-dramatic about how they went about their daily lives ever since the sundering. Eight long moons had passed since then, but she knew this wasn't how her brother really was. It was only because of their location, the area where their dad had died, that put him on edge. Even though Bloodrain didn't like to admit it, it put her on edge, too. They made their way through the brush to find themselves in the dark part of the forest where the scorched trees from the sundering still stood and many others had fallen. Brightsky looked at his sister, wondering if she would have another panic attack, but tried to keep check on his own pulse; he had to keep calm for her. As the two wandered out into the dark woods they looked around at the damage that had been done those eight moons ago: trees were black from the fire that had spread, charred pieces of bark were littered all over the floor, and mysterious creatures were living inside the forest. Brightsky sighed as he looked around; the painful memories welled up inside of him. He wasn't particularly happy to be here, but he complied with his sister on coming to the area. "Can you believe this happened only eight moons ago?" He looked up at the sky, though he couldn't see it - the canopies were too thick to see through. Bloodrain didn't acknowledge him as she noticed a small circle of trees that were laying on the ground - three of them charred and burned badly while one was still flourishing moss. She recognized those trees. Holding her breath she ventured toward the trees, squeezing herself through a small crack in the moss covered one. Brightsky was too preoccupied with the canopies to notice where his sister was going. But there was something that was bothering him, something that didn't seem quite right about the location. They had visited this place once before after the sundering, and had vowed to never go back, but their need for adventure and to one-up each other had gotten the better of them and they were now in the place they never thought they'd return to. "Hey, Rain, I don't like the feeling I'm getting here. I feel like we're being watched..." He turned around to look for his sister, but she had already disappeared before he noticed where she was. Brightsky stopped and looked around. "Rain?" Bloodrain crawled through the other side of the log and found the rock that marked the grave of her father, Knotweaver. She and her brother had painted it with berries the last time they had been there, drawing their markings on the stone to signify that that was where their dad had died. Bloodrain sighed and sat in front of the stone, her head bowed, as she started to cry. "I miss you, daddy..." Brightsky looked around the area once more and noticed the moss covered tree, the one that lead to their father's stone. He started to make his way toward the small opening before he stopped as he heard a small cracking sound behind him. He slowly turned to see if anything was there, but he couldn't see anything. There was only darkness. But something else was off. Looking up, he noticed that the sounds of the forest had become quieter, almost to the point of disappearing where he was standing. He backed up against the log. "Bloodrain," he called out loud enough that he hoped she could hear him over the tree. After saying a few final farewells to her father, Bloodrain stood back up and started to walk back toward the opening of the log. This was the true reason she wanted to come - to say her final goodbyes. As she pushed her head through the log, she heard her brother call her. "Yeah, what is it?" She crawled out onto the other side and saw him backed up against the log. Immediately she became alert. A few moments of hesitation and panic started to fill the area before a massive creature, similar to a bear, lumbered out of the darkness and stared at the two youths, drool dripping out of its mouth. It roared its warning and the twins flinched back. Danger seemed to always follow them wherever they went. It didn't matter if there was a cliff, a beast, lightning, or whatever occurrence seemed to pop up at the time, the twins were just bound to run into trouble. They were frozen for a few moments before they glanced at each other, nodded, and ran toward the bear. "Come and dance, come and play," Bloodrain started to chant. Brightsky replied, "For we will show you the way." The two hopped and ran around the bear's legs as they chanted their song, singing as if they were one Aershaa speaking in rhyme. Bloodrain continued, a smile playing on her face as she said, "Dance to our song as we sing to you~!" "Though this is our trick, and you never knew," Brightsky said with a mischievous grin. "That two young pups would get the better of you!" The twins completed their chant in unison, and the bear stumbled and wobbled, unsure of what to do. It tried to swipe at the pups as they went around its legs, but to no avail. They were too small and too fast, their singing confusing the beast. As they ran in front of the bear in a crisscross, the bear's legs twisted as it stepped one paw in front of the other, causing it to fall to the ground. The twins laughed, running away as fast as their legs could carry them. Though the danger of the dark forest was still real, they couldn't just shake the feeling that they were always going to be called there: it was their home after all. They ran their way out of the dark forest, pushing through the brush they had entered and out into the openness of the Sereven rain forest. It was more humid than the dark forest, but it was more welcoming for sure. They breathed heavily as they collapsed on the ground before looking at each other and laughing. Though it had started as a boring, weary journey into the heart of where their troubles had all started, it ended on a high note: that they were still alive because of their father. Without him, they would be lost. Brightsky stood up with a chuckle, shaking the dirt off of his fur before he said, "Do you think we're ever going to have a dull day?" His blue eyes were bright from the adrenaline pumping through his veins. Bloodrain laughed, standing up as well. "I thought this was a dull day!" The twins laughed as they made their way through the forest, going wherever their little paws may take them. Brightsky RP Color: #0066FF Bloodrain RP Color: #A30000 |
