Original Journal posted Sat May 23, 2009 11:20 pm EST![]() Name: Dyad Approximate Age:: 21 Breed: Barren Type: Normal Class: Reverted Physical Description: Black and green with a marking that looks like a droplet on top of a triangle flanked by diamond shapes on her shoulders. Region: Jiskadar Personality: Dyad is painfully shy. She gets nervous easily and when it gets to be too much she will run and hide. She is loyal though and once she makes a friend she does everything in her power to help and protect them. Her best friend is her bonded, an outgoing human male by the name of Marik. Dyad is very protective of Marik and sees him as her pup. However when he is around she's far more relaxed and friendly. History: Dyad once live in a human village as guard airla. While she loved her master and his family she felt out of place, as if she didn't belong. When she was 3 she became deathly ill and though she was cured her eyesight was severely weakened. 6 years later wild aershaa attack her village and she gets separated from her owner in the chaos. During this time she finds out that there are places in the wild that man has yet to see and out of spite for ruining her eyesight Dyad decides not to return to her village. After living in the wild for only a year Dyad has a dream about her owners son and is overwhelmed by the urge to see him again. She journeys back to her village to reunite with him only to have the world break apart a few months later. They travel the new continent of Jiskadar for several years until one day they meet another bonded human/barren pair. Unfortunately they run into a fur trader who drugs the humans and kidnaps the barren sending them to his facility in Hasseran. Edited by trigirl48, Feb 10 2016, 02:01 AM.

She was hot, so very very hot. Every inch of her body was on fire it seemed. She whimpered as the fire licked her body, she was hurting just as much as she was hot. Panting heavily, she whimpered again, she had been feeling like this for days and did not know how much more she could take. Her owners were supposed to be nice, they had fed her well, played with her, gave her all the attention could ever want, why were they doing this to her? Why were they letting her suffer so much? There was a mournful howl, she didn't realize came from her. There was movement behind her and she was being picked up. She watched as clumps of her fur fell to the floor as one of her owners carried her to a large tub filled with water. She didn't like the tub, never had, made her feel too confined. "Dyad easy, it will help you." Came the gentle voice of the one carrying her. They set her in the tub, the water was cool maybe even cold. She didn't know how they had gotten the water like, maybe it was because she was so hot? Either way the water felt good as it did help ease the fever. More of her fur floated to the top of the water and her other owner put their arms around her, they felt strong and confident. "We found a way to make you better." They whispered. There was more movement, and a man in a white coat walked into the room, he set his brief case on a table and opened it. She couldn't see what he was doing but the master that had carried her came to the tub hadput their arms around her too. The white coat turned around, in his hand was what her masters had called a needle and he was walking towards her. Her eyes went wide and she struggled, this was how the other humans had put down their airla! They were putting her down, how could they do such a thing! She had been loyal- oh so loyal and she even protected her masters' pup and kept him from wandering away! Why were they putting her down? She yelped loudly as the needle sunk deep into her skin. She had been surprised to find out that the needle did not kill her. For days the white coat came and stuck her, and her masters said that it was going to help, but it did not seem that way. Nearly all her fur fell out, and though every bit of her was in pain still, there were times she felt a flame as well as time she thought she would freeze solid. She was having a harder time seeing, everything was getting blurry. The "treatment," as her masters had called it, stopped eventually and she started to feel better. She didn't get as hot or as cold, and after a while her fur grew back in. Her vision did not improve though and her masters were angry at the white coat for causing her bad vision, but there was nothing he could do to fix it. It did not matter to her, she did not like her adult masters as much as she did before, but there was nothing she could do about it as this was the only place she knew. |

She could hear shouting, lots of it. She could hear the feet of the two legs and their airla running around outside. Something wasn’t right though she could hear more airla feet than there were supposed to be. Had some wilds attacked the village? There had been rumors of wilds attacking other villages, had that happened here? She looked up at her male master as he walked to the door of their home, he was carrying his bow and a full quiver. She may not have liked him anymore, not since he helped “cure” her years ago harming her vision as well; but she could not let him go out into the chaos alone. She stood and followed him as long as she kept him in sight things would be fine. At least she thought they would be. The entire village was in confusion, two legs were chasing wilds and their own airla and airla were chasing wilds and two leg and the wilds where chasing everyone. What was going on here? Had the airla suddenly turned on their owners? She licked her master’s hand to assure that she would stay there. He smiled and scratched behind her ears once. Together they plunged into the fray, protecting two legs and airla and chasing off the wilds. Through it all though, she felt as if she should have been joining the wilds, not chasing them away. Something about the notion of living without humans appealed to her. She didn’t like her masters or at least, she didn’t like the male and female. She adored their pup even though he was nearly grown himself. Her master stopped at the village well, as the fighting died down, for some water. She was drinking what he had given her when a growl came to her ears. She heard her master draw the string on his bow as well. She couldn’t see the wild that was there, he was too far away, but she could tell that there was only one. The bow string snapped and suddenly she saw the wild, charging for her master with an arrow in their side. She lunged, her teeth sinking into the wild’s flesh. The creature yelped in pain. Another wild must have heard because suddenly there was another, and it was on top of her before she could even turn. She struggled and was able to get a hit in with her tail blade. It retreated, the first wild lying dead on the ground, full of arrows. She chased after the second wild, how dare they attack her master? She ran after it, ignoring her masters calls to come back. Normally the wild would have lost her in a few seconds, but it was injured now and though it stayed in her sight, she wasn’t able to close the gap. Suddenly her quarry vanished. She kept running and by time she saw the steep slope ahead of her, it was too late and she couldn’t stop herself. She yelped down as she bounced down the face of the slope, all thoughts about the wild she was chasing left her mind. She attempted to climb back up, but she kept sliding back down. Whimpering, she followed the slope, and eventually came upon the airla that had managed to escape her village as well as some of the wilds that had helped them. The wilds talked about how the airla were free and that they were actually called Aershaa. They also talked about how other freed airla were planning a trek to find a home of their own away from the humans. Dyad had been hoping to find her way back to her masters but upon hearing that there were places without humans, where she wouldn’t have to worry about them “curing” her again, perhaps this was what she was hoping for. She would go and join these other airla- Aershaa- as they were now called. |
