Region: Singing Spire, Norther Jiskadar

Personality: Raejak is a gruff but friendly aershaa. He's an honest 'shaa not afraid to tell it like it is. He likes to be helpful and work but he also likes to take easy every once in a while. He doesn't like the cold.

Back story: Raejak was born at a small breeding facility unrelated to CoMDoB. He switched owners three or four times before being bought from an abusive owner by a kind merchant. He lived with the merchant for 4 years before the merchant fell on hards times and he was sold again. As his new owner was moving to Isheef in northern Jiskadar his owner and his guards were tricked by an air-shaa into leaving the cart. The air then doubled back and freed Raejak and his foxxen companion taking the pair to their pack at mountain called the Singing Spire.

Northern Jiskadar was no place for a barren. At least that's what Raejak thought. He had never been north of Timbervast before and if he could, he wouldn’t ever be. He tugged at the rope around his neck, and it tightened some. It didn’t look like he would be going south any time soon. He hated this, tied to a wagon heading someplace cold all because his new master wanted to go hunting. What was so wonderful about hunting in the cold? It was well, cold. He thought for sure humans would prefer some place warmer to hunt, Raejak knew he would.

The barren looked over at his traveling partner. A foxxen stood, well walked, on the other side of the wagon. She too was tethered. Raejak thought back to when he had first met her. He had just been purchased by their previous owner, Tom. He was weak and ill from abuse at the hands of another owner. Two Coat had been put in charge of caring for him until he was well. It was during that time when they became close friends.

Tom was a rich and powerful merchant, though he lived humbly in a room attached to his shop. Raejak was to be his guard airla. He did well, scaring away more than a few robbers and potential thieves over the years, always being rewarded with a large chunk of meat. Raejak enjoyed his life.

Tom unfortunately had enemies among the other merchants. Some were jealous of his wealth, some angry that he lived so poorly even though he had money, and others yet had lost customers to him. It was one such merchant, though his reasons are unknown to Raejak, who brought ruin to Tom. He started rumors, sabotaged Tom’s textiles, threatened Tom’s customers and more though at the time it was unknown why Tom was having such misfortune.

Eventually, Tom had to sell Raejak and Two Coat to a merchant friend. Almost immediately their new owner made preparations to go to someplace called Isheef. Raejak suspected they were heading towards that place now, towards the cold. Raejak tugged at his rope again only succeeding in choking himself. He hated this place, this master, all he wanted to do was get away from all of it. The sudden stop of the wagon brought him back from his thoughts.

"It’s an airla." Two coat said quietly, "The kind with feathers on its tail." She explained. She was taller than he was and so was able to see the front of the wagon more clearly. She then made a sympathetic sound, "I think it's hurt, it's limping away."

"Well after it you fools!" The owner screamed before grabbing his sword and chasing after the injured aershaa. His two bodyguards took a moment to react before running after the aershaa as well, leaving Raejak and Two Coat to themselves.

"Whoever that airla is remind me to thank them!" Raejak announced, "Those three are too stupid to realize it’s a trick." He turned his tail towards Two Coat and stretched. Getting the idea she pulled her rope taught as he cut through it with his tail blade. "Now hurry and free me! That airla surely wouldn’t have led them away for this long." Two Coat grabbed a knife from the cart and sliced the rope around Raejak’s neck.

The two of them dashed for the mountains as fast as they could. Eventually, Raejak tripped and tumbled towards the drey. He didn’t get up though, his body was screaming at him as he fought for breath. Two Coat collapsed next to him panting as well. He wasn’t sure how long they ran, but they still had not reached the mountains.

"Do you think they followed us?" she asked when she was able, her eyes closed against the sun.

"The only one who followed you was me." A voice came from the air. The pair looked up at the speaker as the airla from before landed in front of them and trotted up over, looking quite proud.

"You’re not limping." Two Coat replied. This made the aershaa chuckle and they stepped in a circle, showing that walking was indeed possible. One would also get the impression that the aershaa was showing off the myriad of feathers that covered it's body.

"I see the humans were not the only ones I tricked." The airkin turned to Raejak. "I’m sorry for assuming you would take the chance to escape but I saw the way you held yourself and I was able to get close enough to see the look on your face."

"Thank you for the distraction." Raejak bowed his head towards the aershaa. The aershaa smiled.

"Once you’ve had enough time to rest I shall take you to Erumein-sev."
